On Plesk for Linux mod_status is disabled on upgrades to improve Apache security. This is a one-time operation that occurs during an upgrade. You can manually enable mod_status later if needed.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I could fix it in Plesk: I reinstalled the Litespeed extension, switched off nginx, switched to Apache within the Litespeed extension and uninstalled Litespeed properly. Apache works like a charm again!

Since the upgrade to Plesk Onyx, the server eats up 180 GB of the 200 GB available. The total webspace used by all domains is roughly 50 GB and I disabled Plesk backup for the time being.
