Its possible to add more database servers in Plesk, so an idea could be to install two instances of MySQL (or have one MySQL + one MariaDB). Then the standard installed MySQL 5.5 can just run normally as the main DB server, and still be used by the Plesk system. I really want to use MySQL 5.7...

Does your DNS setup have a nameserver (an NS record) in the DNS list? At the same time, does it have a PTR record pointing to itself? (looks something like: xx.xx.xx.xx/24 PTR domain.name) where xx... is your servers IP address. Try a screen shot of a websites DNS setup from the server

I have plesk 12.5 on debian 7.5, and after I just tried adding a reseller and moved a customer to this account, I get several errors, and afterwards I cant open the PHP settings when logged in as the customer. After checking around some of the knowledge base, it seemed like a faulty php setting...

Then to make it fool prof for your customers you could make a htaccess redirect for http with port 8443 to https with port 8443. That will make it work just perfect (but if the domain in question doesn't have a purchased ssl certificate, the warning about the site might be unsafe will pop up)
