401.1 Authorization Errors

Hi all,

I've got a 2003 server with less than 50 domains running. All the domains are in their own application pool and all the web sites are prompting for a username and password. I have modified the identity to Network Service from the IUSR account and that didn't work. I have manually changed the IUSR_account password through user manager and then changed it in IIS, that also didn't work. I have repaired the plesk installation, I have run the Reconfigurator tool a number of times.

I out of ideas and not getting any response from SWSoft support. Does anyone else have any knowledge of how to correct this situation?

Thank you.

I have the same issue. Did the repair and reconfigurator and no change. I am able to access webmail and ftp but all my sites have the 401.1 - unauthorized access. Thank you kindly for any guidance.

problem solved

Arazas: Thanks for the reply.

The problem got resolved by SWsoft. I was told that SWsoft recreated all IIS sites from plesk database records. This did not restore my permissions which generated errors for my database driven sites so I went and added users and permission for each site. The other thing was that my sites with DNS A records still pulls up with a login screen or 'Service Unavailable'. This was resolved by resetting passwords in IIS and Users.
