451 Error: queue file write error (only when using postfix)

Maybe it is already clear, but nevertheless: I get this error only after attaching a big file to a message (e.g. 2MB), so this message will not be sent. Normal ('small') mails work fine with postfix on my machine with CentOS 5. But of course we seriously need to send that kind of files, so please give this problem a high priority in development... thank you.

I would say the issue is still not fixed and also exist without big attachments. I have two Servers one with Plesk 9.2.3 and the other with 9.3 and on both I have the queuefile write errors. However I belive this is not just one issue there are a lot of issues around the postfix-queue...

Once we recieved just the half of Mails again and again and for each mail the queuefile write error. The Plesk implementation of Posfix is just useless on a production server

Postfix problem remains on plesk 9.3.0

Hi there i can confirm the Postfix 'queue file write error' problem still exists for me after upgrading to Plesk 9.3.0 running Debian Etch.

Unfortunately I am unable to switch back to Qmail because we need some of the features offered in postfix for virtual hosts.

Has anyone tried working around this problem by using a backup MX server running Qmail ? (the backup MX delivery to the primary MX could be tweaked to work around this problem)

Hi,

I think actually the best approach is to loose the greylisting feature and bypass the postfix proxy as described serveral messages above.

Greetings

Well, I have been monitoring this thread since installing 9.2.3 and "upgrading" to 9.3. I am yet another sysadmin with this issue, but I'll save you all the trauma of reading another log excerpt and error email.

What is quite outrageous is that, quite simply, this product is not fit for the purpose for which it is marketed and sold, and it is about time Parallels realised this. There are only two possible reasons why this issue exists:
1) Parallels are unable to fix it
2) Parallels are unwilling to fix it

Given that the general consensus is that Postfix is a reliable mailserver with thousands of reliable installations across the world, I simply have to conclude that it is quite possible to implement a correctly-working server if Parallels choose to. It seems that they do not.

I am loath to switching to QMail because, upon trying it before, I received innumerable blank messages (20,000-odd) in my inbox from what would appear to be a rogue process at work. Rebooting the server did not help resolve that, and therefore I am forced to stay with Postfix. If Parallels cannot fix this issue, what hope do I have that they can successfully script a MTA switcher without issues?!! So, no thanks to that ...!

It is my hunch that this issue occurs only on 64-bit implementations and not 32-bit ones, as I recently migrated all my domains from a fully functional, non-erroring 32-bit Plesk v9.2.3. The only other difference is that we've gone from RHEL 4 to RHEL 5.

I have updated posted already Workaround with new version of patch for fixing 'Unprocessed command' error.
Please try it and update this thread with results.

Thank You.

No more errors for me, but a lot of processes of postfix-queue (about 1000 in just 24 hours) not finishing :(
Reverted to saved postfix-queue :(

This Patch is for Plesk 9.0 and should be included in Plesk 9.3.
"The recompiled utility with timeout value 300 seconds is included to Parallels Plesk Panel since version 9.2."...

Best regards

I'm using Plesk 9.3, but also have got the same problem.
I've tried installing the patch from http://kb.odin.com/en/6074,
it helps only for a small size attachment.

If email contains large attachment (not so large actually, about 2-3MB), I still get the same error in Mailog:
Feb 18 17:33:25 ls1 before-remote[5224]: check handlers for addr: [email protected]
Feb 18 17:33:25 ls1 before-remote[5224]: Processing handlers...

Feb 18 10:33:27 ls1 postfix/smtpd[21288]: disconnect from unknown[127.0.0.1]

Feb 18 17:33:27 ls1 before-remote[1782]: Unable to read data from stream

Feb 18 17:33:30 ls1 postfix/spawn[28841]: warning: /usr/lib64/plesk-9.0/postfix-queue: process id 26938: command time limit exceeded

Anyone.. please suggest, how to make Postfix 100% working with attachment?
My domains also need to receive a large attachment, not only a small one..

Postfix on Plesk make me Crazy!!!!!
Mine just work for 2 days... after that... problem again... now i must DISABLE greylisting... all problem GONE.. but got new PROBLEM!!... to many SPAM come in to my server...

I dont know.. this is problem on GL or postfix ? buat IGor said it's postfix problem....
So... to the parallels team... please FIX it !!!
