8.04 Permissions issues

All,

My dev team likes to have a "staging area" where they can upload code to the web server, then move it in as needed into the "live" site area. Under Plesk 8.3, this was not an issue. They would upload to c:\inetpub\ftproot\localuser\ftp, then copy the code over to the live site c:\inetpub\vhosts\domain.com\httpdocs and not have any issues.

After our hosting provider upgraded us to 8.4, we have permissions issues.

Even though we have the Plesk user (IUSR\ftp3 in this case) set to Read and Execute permissions for the whole folder and sub dirs, we still run into cases where the permissions are not applied to the objects when we copy them into the live dir. We then have to use the Plesk control panel to check and fix the permissions.

Anybody have any ideas what we can do to fix this?

I would personally recommend you apply a new group with permissions, then add the user you're performing the edits and file-copy with, and the webs' FTP account, to that group account. Since there can be multiple groups for a single user, this will enable you to do what you need without having to futz with the plesk permissions utilities.

Can anybody shed some more details on what Shall is talking about?

Or any other recommendations?
