  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Acronis or Acronis Extension

KlausZ

Basic Pleskian
Hi all,

I have a virtual cloud server with Ionos. (Cent OS7 and Plesk Onyx). I have also backed up several local servers in the Acronis Cloud (so I have Acronis Cloud access). Now I also want to back up the virtual cloud server with Acronis. The question now is: Should I rather install the Acronis Linux agent and manage the whole thing via the Acronis console or should I use the Plesk Acronis extension? Is it still possible to access the backups via the Acronis Cloud Console using the Plesk extension? Who has what in use. Are there advantages and disadvantages. Would be glad about some input.

Thanks and regards, Klaus

When you are using Acronis Plugin for Plesk, you should see the button to access the Acronis protection console, and that's where you can do entire machine recovery for example. You should still use Acronis Plugin for Plesk for any webhosting related recovery tasks (accounts, domains, mailboxes, databases, files).

We are trying to use the Acronis Backup extension to back up our Linux server on our Acronis tenant. Since we are Acronis Partners, we want to use our tenant instead of paying for costly per-megabyte backup.

Just a few questions:

  1. Do we need to install the Acronis backup agent before installing the Acronis extension?
  2. Which URL do we need to configure in the extension settings? We use the EU Acronis Cloud, so our URL is eu5-cloud.acronis.com.

Kind regards

Please, can you detail more? On my my own backup account I'm not able to find location URL other than those

you take your personal acronis-url e.g. eu5-cloud.acronis.com and your account. Do you have a outgoing firewall?

No, established and outbound connection are not limited. If I try
Code:
curl -v https://eu5-cloud.acronis.com
from the Plesk host the connection is successful

Do you install manually the Acronis agent on server?
