Adding a new DSN Connection (.mdb)

Hi all,

for the life of me, I can't get the db file path correct for this. Do I put in the full path to the database? I've tried different methods, but test connection always fails.

Hoping someone has an answer to this.

We did it this mornig and had to enter the whole path to the database. in our case was that:

e:\www\vhosts\yourdomain.ch\httpdocs\test.mdb

and the test fas sucessfull.

I did try that, but here's the error i'm getting:

unable to connect to datasource with specified settings. server returned: odbcerror hy000: [microsoft][odbc microsoft access driver] not a valid filename.


But i've double and triple checked to ensure that the file name was correct, even using sample.mdb and testing.mdb, but result is the same.

any ideas?

you need to enter the real path to the database and also the name of the db.

it should work.

When you want to know the real path to the database file. Run this script in the directory of the database:

Just put it in a example.asp (or something like that)
<%
Response.Write Server.MapPath(Request.ServerVariables("PATH_INFO"))
%>
this line shows the real path to the databasefile.

You can add this path it in the plesk control panel under odbc. Test the connection et voila.

Do not forget to set write permissions on the database file.
