  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

After update, mail error - 421 unable to read controls

After update to 10.1, the mail server is not sending emails.

A telnet to port 25 of the server shows wrong host/domain configuration and that 421 error.

*****:~# telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain.
Escape character is '^]'.
421 unable to read controls (#4.3.0)
Connection closed by foreign host.

What can i do to solve this? Any ideas?

1. Disk space partition in /var that it is not full

2. The directory /var/qmail/control exists with chmod of 755 and ownership of root:qmail. There are a number of different permissions in there. If don't want to blanket the directory with 755 take a look at everything inside and make sure it is a minimum of 644. If you see something less fix that individual file.

3. The file /var/qmail/control/options exists and is more than 1 byte in size.

Does the server reboot without errors?

If you do the following:

service qmaild stop

Do you still show anything on tcp 25? i.e.

netstat -lntpe | grep :25

When you start up qmail, are there errors in /var/log/maillog?

service qmaild start
tail -f /var/log/maillog
