Question Almalinux or Rocky Linux?

shogunswb

Basic Pleskian
Server operating system version
Centos 7.9
Plesk version and microupdate number
18.0.59
Simple question really (or not)

Need to upgrade from CentOs 7.9, but do I go to Almalinux or Rocky Linux?

From what I can see they are much of a muchness apart from a slight difference in the way that they handle security.
Probably not going to upgrade the system but rebuild the server with a clean install.

Any preferences, experiences good or bad?

AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux are good choices to replace CentOS 7.9 on your server with Plesk. They both work well and have similar features.

RHEL-based: Based on the same foundational code as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), this platform ensures effortless compatibility with Plesk and most software tailored for RHEL.

Free and open-source: No licensing costs involved.

Both have things in common, but let's see how they might differ.

Security Focus:
Both platforms prioritize security, but they have slightly different approaches. It's recommended to look into how they handle security and see which one suits you best. You can check out their websites for more details on how they keep things secure.

Community and Support:
Both have active communities, but AlmaLinux might have a slightly larger community due to its earlier establishment. both have lots of helpful resources and instructions for Plesk users.

Choosing between AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux depends on what you like and need. It's important to check out both options, and look at their features, community support, and how they handle security. Testing them out in a test environment can also help you decide. But Overall, AlmaLinux is a better choice.
