Application vault with Tar format in Unix

I desire to publish an app using the application vault format. Though I am slightly confused regarding the tar support on linux. The docs seem to indicate that tar is supported on Win32, while RPM/sh is supported on Linux.

Something seems very strange about this. Tar is available on every Unix platform, so wouldn't it make sense that one could build a cross-platform vault based on tar?

Is a tar based app-vault supported for Plesk 7.5 on Unix? My app works on both Win32 & Unix. Would be a shame to have to build two separate installers...

You can not build a cross-platform compatible package, sorry to dissapoint you.
