Authentication failed: invalid username or password specified

I am getting the error in the title when trying to login to Plesk 9.2. This is happening in both IE and Firefox.

The password is right, I have stopped iptables (both on the PC and the server). I have cleared any lockouts as per:

http://sudo.apt-get.info/?p=60

which also incidentally conforms my password is right. service psa restart has not worked either.

I'm wondering if there is somehow too many sessions?

Hello

It can be Plesk installed within Virtuozzo container, and the login can be redirected through Virtuozzo service container.
In this case the login to Plesk CP looks like https://IP:8443/vz/cp/panel/plesk/frameset
If the above is true - please try to access Plesk directly at http://IP:8880 with the password you have.
Otherwise - try to reset password following the article
