Try 'apt-get -f install' before installation. Also try to find something useful in autoinstaller logs in /tmp and post it here.

It hasn't helped. Sending you the obscured output feedback with comments.

// huh ?

I'm trying to install plesk on an fresh Ubuntu instalation (VPS)

Ok. Seems problem require deep investigation directly on your server. We have not received such complaints from customers with Ubuntu servers. I think that you should contact support team in your case for detailed investigation of this issue.

I think that this could be the problem of the installer. Please create an .deb version of the installer (this kind of installers don't have any problems on my server)

This isn't an OS problem, but installer one

Did you tryed to do it on the XEN like virtual machine or VPS ?

I have tried it on standalone Ubuntu server and on Virtuozzo VPS. Seems your Ubuntu XEN virtual server is incorrectly installed.

Here you go the output of autoinstaller after I switched the system to Debian 5.0 x64:

Segmentation fault can indicate that it may be hardware problem or resources related issue for virtual machine. Did you tried autoinstaller on usual standalone Ubuntu/Debian server?
