AWS EC2 ami-f8c67d91 on instance m1.small

David_Br

New Pleskian
Hello,

I would like to use this AMI to launch an m1.small instance on EC2

As described in the KB: http://kb.parallels.com/114216 , it's stated that it is possible to launch it on m1.small
"Launch a new instance with the ami-f8c67d91 image and instance type "Small" (m1.small) or higher."

But this AMI is linked to the Amazon Marketplace item:
https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp?sku=ctgrm9djyom14br5mwrl9k8v3

And it is impossible to launch on m1.small; i am obliged to use at least m1.medium; which is unfortunately what i want due to Amazon costs higher on medium instances than on small instances.

Could you please modify your Amazon Marketplace AMI's so as to enable people to use m1.small instances types as well please ?

Many thanks,
David

If you read carefully attached to KB article pdf file you see how to select small instance there.
Note that Amazon sells instances with included Plesk license but our instances hasn't Plesk license and you should buy it separately or use trial Plesk license key.

Dear Igor,

I have seen and reviewed this guide.
However, after this guide was created, Parallels did modified the setting on AWS.

I have already contacted the AWS Support (just to confirm) and you need to enable all instances types on your AWS Marketplace account, instead of limiting to instances above the ma1.medium which is actually the case.

Could you please ask to the person responsible for the AWS account internally ?

Many thanks,
David

Hello,
You can easily workaround the problem using "Launch with EC2 Console" tab instead of "1-Click Launch". When you accept terms press "Launch with EC2 Console" button in the needed region (see the attached screenshots). After that standard AWS Console will be opened were you can select any type of instance.

RuslanT,

No.
Already tried.
Go at the end of procedure, try to launch the machine on m1.small it will tell you that this instance type hasn't been allowed by the software publisher (aka parallels)

You really need to allow all instances types in your aws marketplace account.

thanks
