AWStats, died... Seeking to ressurect...

I suddenly got a 100,000 visitors in a day and as a result AWStats shat itself and then died...

I can get the stats up to the point that the server got overwhelmed, but when I click on the 'Update' in the user interface it very slowly attempts to reload/update the page, and then goes to a 'Error 500, internal server error...'

Anyone know how to fix this - and hopefully recover as much of my stats as possible?
