  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Backing Up Everything

MikeLoeritz

New Pleskian
Hi,

I am new to this forum and after many problems with a certain email provider I decided to set up a dedicated server with Linux Plesk and run my own mail server for our businesses. After a lot of studying (being new to the whole thing) and $75 for some support from Plesk we have it all running perfect!

We are using the server only for emails although may host our websites in time but I have a huge worry.

Using godaddy (oops i named them) we know that the emails, settings etc are safe. Yes they may have failures but eventually everything comes back if it goes wrong. With our own server we could suffer a hard drive failure for example and not only loose all settings but all emails, files and so on.

I have scoured forums and found everything so complicated but I am assuming that as the idea of plesk is to host emails and websites there is a very simple answer...

Is there a way to regularly backup and download everything to another server so that if the sever fails we can just restore everything again... as I said, the biggest worry is a hrd drive failure... but knowing that when a new disk is installed we can just install plesk and restore something to bring it all back would be awesome.

I don´t really want to go to the expense of running two servers, two plesk licenses etc if there is a way to jsut backup, maybe scheduled every day for example.

Any advice would be gratefully received, THANK YOU!
