• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Backup File and content

Hi,

I'm not sure if i am on the right track here, but the back up process seems to be pretty simple if it works.

I dont get any errors, as the backup file is successfully created according to my choices selected.

During the backup process, it shows what is being backedup ie: mail domain contect and so forth .

This file ends up being 3-5 gigs for this server, but when i restore it on the new server ( same setup file versions etc.), then it does something, and says the restore is complete, but no domain are created, and hence no domains and emails on the new server .

am i misunderstanding the backup process ? do i need to copy over more than just the backup file to the new server ?

Please assist

Thanks
Kirwin

Dear friends, Plesk backup system is very confusing.

But the backup file is very simple, it's just a .ZIP file actually.

I had to run restore on plesk 3 times and after each restore I could only see that 20% of my domains are restores rest of them are not. Then I figured out that actual backup file is just a ZIP file and I had to restore and setup all other domains by myself.

Right now I do not trust Plesk Backup but I use it once a week :).

Thanks.
