backup/mirroring solution

i am thinking of installing rsnapshot to mirror the contents of my harddrive to a second harddrive. but as i'm not very familiar with filesystems and boot options i wonder if my backup disk will be bootable. or how it can be made bootable, so in case one hd crashes i can ask my serveradmins to simply exchange it with the backup drive. does anybody have a hint for me? thanks
