Backup/Restore - 9.3 -> 10.1 - possible?

Michael MacDonald

Basic Pleskian
Hello:

I am trying to create an environment for testing migrations. With that in mind, I have created a VM with the folllowing:

CentOS 5.5 x32
Plesk 10.1

My source restore files are coming from:
RHEL
Plesk 9.3

First of all, is this possible - to restore a dump file from Plesk 9.3 to Plesk 10.1?

If not, the second portion of this question may be irrelevent.

When trying to restore to the 10.1 system, I use the following to create an ipmap file.

/usr/local/psa/bin/pleskrestore --create-map DUMP_FILE_NAME -map ipmap.txt

The command runs for quite a while and seems to be dumping information from the backup file into /var/lib/psa/dump and /tmp/.

The process ends without creating an ipmap file and stops with the following:
"The file you are trying to upload is not a valid backup file"

Since this is a test, I am not so concerned but this certainly brings into question the validity of my process to restore.

So, the first question is whether it is possible to restore a backup created on 9.3 to a 10.1 system. I am thinking it may not be possible since there is no --create-map switch list in the CLI help for the 10.1 pleskrestore command.

Please advise.
