• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Backup with Remote FTP Not working?

Hello!

I am trying to schedule some backups on my Plesk server to a remote FTP since I noticed this new function in Plesk.

However, when I try to enter all of the FTP information I get a really long pause and then at the end this error comes up:

Code:
Failed to write test data to the FTP account [url]ftp://68.178.232.94/:[/url] delete error: Could not open data connection to port 38704: Connection timed out

I have tried logging into to the FTP with FileZilla and it worked no problem, so I know the FTP is fine.

However, I have also tried using a different FTP account (different host) and it also worked fine. So I am assuming that this host must have some type of connection blocked or something?

Basically, I just need to know what I should be asking my host to open/enable in order for this backup thing to start working for me.

Any help/tips you can provide will be much appreciated. Thanks!!!

Did you get this worked out? Sounds like a simple firewall issue.
