Issue Big Problems after an upgrade error

NicolaR

New Pleskian
Hello

First of all sorry for my bad english... hope that you understand me :)

Tonight I upgraded my 12.5.30 installation to the latest Onyx... unfortunately the installation was blocked and now I cant access to the Plesk Control Panel (luckly all the sites works correctly)

I had a same issue some time ago and I solved the problem resuming the old psa database and performing a bootstrap fix... now it don't works... the core is Plesk 12.5.3 but when I launch the installer I see Plesk Onyx... the control panel show error 500 ...

Do someone had the same problem?

Thanks for your attention and again sorry for my bad english
Nicola

Hi NicolaR,

... unfortunately the installation was blocked ...
Was blocked by whom, ... from whom? Any investigations or depending - log - entries, which might help to investigate your issue?

I cant access to the Plesk Control Panel (luckly all the sites works correctly)
What is the corresponding error - message, please?
Did you investigate possible issues from your log - files?

Do someone had the same problem?
It would be really rare, that someone uses the very same server system and ver same operating software as you do, with the very same packages installed on your server.
Even if someone would meet the exact conditions, it would not help at all to answer the question with "yes", because there are thousands of possible issues that may not at all be compairable to your issue(s).

Thanks for your attention and again sorry for my bad english
There is no english course here in the forum. We restrict ourselves to server administration, related to Plesk and it's components. If someone is unsure, that he/she did understand your words the way you wanted us to understand them, he/she will ask back. :p

Hello UFHH01 and thanks for your reply

I will try to reply at your questions... first of all I use Plesk from 10 years because I have not more practice with Linux System (I have a couple of high traffic personal blog )... maybe I wrong but I think that is strange that every time that I want to upgrade to a major version, I have to spend days to fix the problem of the updater... anyway... my problem is first with some components (fail2ban and other) that appears broken... I tryed to remove with yum but every time that I launch Yum or the Plesk autoinstaller, the procedure freeze without any message and I have to press CTRL C to return to my ssh client... sometimes the procedure freeze on the RPM CHECK ... sometimes on LOADING PLUGIN PRIORITIES:.. if you tell me what log do you need to understand better the problem I'll search because in the LOG of the installer I haven't found nothing

Actually I can't use the installer because freeze... the server NGINX don't work (when I activate the server every web site return me a 502 error)

That's all... thank you so much for your attention and your help... in the past I solved every plesk problem my searching on KB or Google but its 3 days that I try to solve this problem without success... I'm thinking to take another dedicated server, make a fresh install and transfer all the web site manually

Thanks again and all the best
nicola

Hi NicolaR,

please have a closer look at ( and may BOOKMARK them?!? ):

Sometimes, it is as well a good idea to change the log - level, to get more informations in psa - log - files:

You will notice, that ALL Plesk depending log - paths are documented.

Second, pls. be informed, that we really need the informations from your command line, in order to investigate possible issues. The description "I tryed to remove with yum but every time that I launch Yum..." it to less. Pls. consider to post the lines directly from your ssh - client, especially the ones, where you are stuck.

... the procedure freeze without any message and I have to press CTRL C to return to my ssh client ...
Well, this is a bad idea. Depending processes might still run in the background and you could experience a broken package management when you interrupt a yum process.

sometimes the procedure freeze on the RPM CHECK
sometimes on LOADING PLUGIN PRIORITIES
Both issues point to issues/problems with yum itself. Consider again to post corresponding issues/errors/problems directly from your comand line, in order to get with your investigations.

...the server NGINX don't work (when I activate the server every web site return me a 502 error)...
Because of your previous issues with yum, I'm pretty sure, that your package management needs a repair and I'm pretty sure, that previous installations are not finished yet, because of your interruptions.

The suggested command:
plesk repair installation
... "CAN" help to investigate and repair possible issue/errors/problems with your Plesk installation, but I must admit, that I still expect a broken package management, which can't be repaired with the Plesk repair utility.

I'm thinking to take another dedicated server
This "could" help to solve your current issues, but it will not replace a necessary investigation for your current issues/errors/problems. You have to make sure that you understand the root cause of your issue, to avoid future issues/erros/problems. ;)

Thanks for your reply... I bookmarked all the link that you posted...

I made the repair installation utility several times but without success... probably the problem is a broken package management as you say

I activated the debug and when I try to install Lets encrypt, the installer return me this log

Errore: Installation failed: Esecuzione di /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/modules/letsencrypt/scripts/post-install.php non riuscita con codice di uscita 1 e output: [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [0] SQL: connect [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [0] END: 0.00023 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [1] SQL: SET sql_mode = '' [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [1] END: 0.00009 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [2] SQL: select param, val from misc [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [2] END: 0.00029 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [3] SQL: DESCRIBE `locales` [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [3] END: 0.00023 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [4] SQL: SELECT `locales`.* FROM `locales` WHERE (((`locales`.`id` = 'it-IT'))) [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [4] END: 0.00009 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [5] SQL: SELECT `locales`.* FROM `locales` WHERE (active = "true" AND id <> 'it-IT') [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [5] END: 0.00014 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [6] SQL: DESCRIBE `Modules` [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [6] END: 0.00023 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [7] SQL: SELECT `Modules`.* FROM `Modules` WHERE (`name` = 'letsencrypt') [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [7] END: 0.00010 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [8] SQL: DESCRIBE `sessions` [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [8] END: 0.00023 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [9] SQL: DELETE FROM `SessionContexts` WHERE (`sessionId` IN (SELECT `sessions`.`sess_id` FROM `sessions` WHERE (`modified` + `lifetime` < 1477218279))) [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [9] END: 0.00011 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [10] SQL: DELETE FROM `sessions` WHERE (`modified` + `lifetime` < 1477218279) [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [10] END: 0.00004 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [11] SQL: SELECT `Modules`.* FROM `Modules` WHERE (`name` = 'letsencrypt') [2016-10-23 12:24:39] DEBUG [dbquery] [11] END: 0.00008 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [dbquery] [12] SQL: DESCRIBE `ServiceNodes` [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [dbquery] [12] END: 0.00021 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [dbquery] [13] SQL: SELECT `ServiceNodes`.* FROM `ServiceNodes` WHERE (`ipAddress` = 'local') [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [dbquery] [13] END: 0.00010 sec [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [util_exec] [ea05ea07a9ef14480b62a03f5a0ab4ab-0] Starting: osdetect [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [util_exec] [ea05ea07a9ef14480b62a03f5a0ab4ab-0] Finished in 0.01134s, Error code: 0 [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [extension/letsencrypt] [580c8fe803ffe] Starting: '/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/modules/letsencrypt/le-installer' [2016-10-23 12:24:40] DEBUG [extension/letsencrypt] [580c8fe803ffe] Finished in 0.00967s, Error code: 1

In the mean time I solved the issue with NGINX by uninstalling and reinstalling it

Thanks again

Hi NicolaR,

here are some suggestions, which might help to repair a broken package management:

First, pls. make sure to DISABLE any additional repos. Pls. use only the official CentOS - repos - nothing more.

Second, consider to re-install previous installed packages on your server with for example:

Code:
mkdir -p /root/temp_reinstall_directory
cd /root/temp_reinstall_directory
yum reinstall *

Third, pls. use the following command to de- and re-install the Let's encrypt module from Plesk:

plesk installer --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --remove-component letsencrypt
plesk installer --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --install-component letsencrypt

Additional informations:
You are always able to install or de-install or upgrade Plesk Onyx components with the commands:

List all components: plesk installer --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --show-components --show-options

Install a component: plesk installer --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --install-component COMPONENT-NAME-AS-SHOWN-FROM-THE---SHOW-OPTIONS----COMMAND

Uninstall a component: plesk installer --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --remove-component COMPONENT-NAME-AS-SHOWN-FROM-THE---SHOW-OPTIONS----COMMAND

Upgrade installed components: plesk installer --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --upgrade-installed-components

Install ( and re-install ) the latest Plesk updates and patches: plesk installer --select-product-id plesk --select-release-current --reinstall-patch --install-component base

Show additional command - line options: plesk installer --help-options

Fourth, pls. note, that the Plesk repair utility has several options, consider to inform yourself at: => Plesk Repair Utility ( Plesk Onyx - online documentation - Administrator's Guide )

You could as well use the command: plesk repair all -v
