i am ultra n00by to all this so if i ask something that has been answered already im sorry. im using plesk 6.5 on windows 2003 server standard and i cant seem to get this up and running.

when i try to update it gives me an error with the poppassd and says it cant start or stop it, so i just have to cancel and rollback the update.

i create users and add domains but the domains dont work.
example brierty.net does not work but ip/brierty.net_non_ssl does work.

i cant access the ftp, no matter what i put in for the username and password it doesnt work, even though im specifying it in the client settings. when i use an ftp program to see the error it says 530 User cizow cannot log in, home directory inaccessible.

can anyone help me get up and running (please explain step by step if you would cause im really lost)

thanks for any and all help.

thanks for the help, i deleted everything including the windows built in dns and IIS and reinstalled IIS then reinstalled plesk and now it works. i can see the default plesk index.html and i can ftp into it, but when i try to update the index file or try to upload my own and replace the default plesk one, it says i dont have permission. any idea on how to fix this? thanks again.

Go into the Domain File manager in Plesk
Go to the httpdocs directory where the index.html file is and click on the yellow lock. It should display all the rights for that file! You can also remove the file from there!

From what I have read over and over in this forum is that if you uninstall and re-install your are going to keep having all kinds of problems...

My advice is that you re-install from scratch. Make sure to read this post again before you do so:
http://forum.sw-soft.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13318

Remember:
a) Do a fresh install of Windows Server 2003
b) Run Windows Update to install all available updates
c) DO NOT enable active directory, this makes the machine a domain controller and also installs DNS which conflicts with the PLESK DNS.
d) Install Plesk per instructions
e) Reboot your machine

Hope this helps!
