Cannot call out to port 8080 on other servers

DickenW

New Pleskian
Plesk 10.4.4, CentOs

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
I cannot access port 8080 on any servers from my Plesk box.

For example: curl -v example.com:8080 gives:

* About to connect() to example.com port 8080
* Trying example.com... Connection refused
* couldn't connect to host
* Closing connection #0
curl: (7) couldn't connect to host

If I try this (same destination) from other computers, it *works*, but from my plesk server.

This also does not work if I try file_get_contents('http://example.com:8080') in PHP. Again, this works to the same URL from other machines I have, but not this plesk one.

Firewall has the rule "All other Outgoing Traffic: Allow" turned on.

Can anybody suggest how I find out why this isn't working?

Anybody able to suggest anything I could try to find out why port 8080 is blocked on our Plesk server?

Hi,

Have you spoken to your provider? It may be that they are blocking 8080 outbound (although it seems unlikely).

I assume that curl and file_get_contents requests work to port 80?

Paul.
