• The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Cannot change password in Horde/IMP webmail

Cannot change password in Horde/IMP webmail

This is plesk 8.2 running on Debian.

Attempts to change password in Horde give this result:
"Failure in changing password on Poppassd Server: Incorrect Password"

Attempts to change password at command prompt after telnet to localhost 106 gives this result:

200 poppassd v1.8.5 hello, who are you?
user [email protected]
200 Your password please.
pass redacted
500 Old password is incorrect.
Connection closed by foreign host.

It is very predictable.

I have found that I can use popassd to change the passwords for users where their password file is in /etc/passwd.

This is nice, but our mail password files are in:

/var/qmail/users/poppasswd

I have yet to find a way to make poppassd read /var/qmail/users/poppasswd

I could try to upgrade to the current version, but frankly I am afraid to do so. Maybe I will do so when I have the machine mirrored.
