• The APS Catalog has been deprecated and removed from all Plesk Obsidian versions.
    Applications already installed from the APS Catalog will continue working. However, Plesk will no longer provide support for APS applications.

Open /etc/mysql/my.cnf and add the following lines:
Code:
[mysqld]
sql_mode=""
Then restart MySQL using the following command: service mysql restart
Try to upgrade once again.

@SibProgrammer
did you mean in /etc/my.cnf ?
Code:
[mysqld]
local-infile=0
datadir=/var/lib/mysql
socket=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
user=mysql
# Disabling symbolic-links is recommended to prevent assorted security risks
symbolic-links=0

[mysqld_safe]
log-error=/var/log/mysqld.log
pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid
because /etc/mysql folder does not even exist

I had to use "/etc/init.d/mysqld restart"
and force the mysql_update
"mysql_upgrade -u admin -p`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow` --force"
and even though there did not seem to make any updates
the "plesk installer" actually upgraded to ONYX

great thanks guys
