• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

CBM 10.2.0-1 - Subscriptions with multiple domains/sites

Hi,

I can not for the life of me, work out how to configure CBM service plans to allow multiple domains associated against a single customer.

For Example, customer John Doe purchases a plan that allows him to run 3 seperate websites (www.domain1.com, www.domain2.com and www.domain3.com)... Ideally, John Doe should be able to configure a 'Parent' FTP account that has access to all the sites, as well as FTP accounts which only allow access to a particular site.

I can do this directly in the panel, but the customer wants to renew their domains using the online billing system - so all domains need to be processed through the CBM.

I dont want to have to allocate 3 separate Service Plans/Subscriptions...

ideas? suggestions?

Hi, maddieboi

If I understand you correctly, you need ability to buy one hosting subscription with three domains inside. CBM allows you to do it through online store:
1. Customer chooses hosting and specifies domain name for registration.
2. From "Order summary" page he can add more domains to hosting - link "[Add domain]" should be shown under hosting item. If he chooses to register new domains, he will get a hosting subscription with three domains to register.

All this order will be processed in CBM, domains will be registered, hosting will be provisioned to the Panel, after that domains will be renewed through registrars every billing cycle (year or two as you choose in "Domains" plan).

After provisioning to Panel this customer will see his hosting subscription with one site (the first domain name) and two aliases (the second and the third domains). He is free to remove aliases but create additional sites inside the subscription.
He can also manage FTP access there (as you mentioned).

Hi Euguene,

Thanks for the reply....

2 problems however that i have noticed ....

1) when placing an order online with (www.testdomain1.com as the domain name), clicking the "Add Domain" link to add the second domain (www.testdomain2.com) replaces the first domain selected (www.testdomain1.com).

2) how do we configure this so we can process it within CBM as well - for example, for an existing customer, we would process it internally for them.

Yes, we have such limitation but only for own domains. If customer will choose to register new domain name, he will be able to add as many new registrations as he wants.
Limitation for own domains has been already removed in 10.3 version which is coming soon

I do not understand this question, could you please clarify it a bit? If you are speaking about performing hosting operations (like managing FTP accounts) right from CBM, than it's impossible. You need to provision hosting subscription to Panel and then in Panel you will be able to do all that stuff.

Thanks for the reply, Eugene.

Let me see if i can explain the situation easier.... (there are a number of diffrence scenarios here)

Scenario 1 - Customer buys hosting package (SMB-LARGE) to host two domains
Our customer, John Doe, runs two separate businesses that he wants to have separate web-presences (domains) for... ie : www.testdomain1.com and www.domainexample2.com

He wants to order our SMB-Large package/subscription (and the associated domain registrations) through us.

so, he goes to our ordering page, orders the SMB-Large subscription and proceeds to order his first domain (www.testdomain1.com) through our website. All fine. Order is placed, domain is registered etc...

However, he wants to also set up his second domain www.domainexample2.com (registering it through us) and have it added to his SMB-Large subscription...

How do you do this? If he just orders his second domain name, do I then have to manually add it to his subscription i the panel? and if this is the case, this wll cause it to not be recorded/linked correctly in CBM.

Scenario 2 - Same as above, but customer wants us to do it over the phone
How would we enter this same process, but the custmer is an existing customer with the SMB-Large subscription, with already 1 domain - but he wants to add a second domain?

Bare in mind, that in both these scenarios, the domains are completely separate domains - not aliases - so each will have a different website.

Obviously, once he has his subscription, he can make his own FTP accounts etc....

is that a little clearer?

Great thanks, now it's much clearer.

1. Unfortunately, you can't attach the second registered domain to existing subscription.
When customer orders the second domain as a separate product he will have to manually create the second site in the Panel and just type there his second domain name.
However on tab "Account" he will see both his domains and they will be renewed by CBM

2. If you do the same operation by phone, you can order domain registration via CBM Administrator Panel - open customer's profile, click "Add New Subscription" and pass through ordering process. But there are the same limitations - domain will be registered but you will have to create the second site manually in the Panel.

Naturally hosting and domain registration are separate products for CBM - they have different billing cycles, prices, processing procedures. We have done a hack - if hosting and domain have been placed in one order, we create a domain inside hosting. IF more then one domain has been ordered, all except the first one are provisioned as aliases.

I'll put the feature request to allow to attach domain to hosting subscription with the following provisioning of it as a separate site or as an alias to existent site.

Thanks Eugene,

Ideally, it would be great if :

in scenario 1
Customers ordering multiple domains and only 1 hosting package can have these domains set up as either aliases or separate sites upto the "domains" or "aliases" limit of the plan

in scenario 2
When we order the additional domain (or the customer does it from their only CBM access) that the domain can be either :
a) assigned to an existing subscription/plan
b) set up as a registration only (for example - the customer might be hosting it elsewhere)

thoughts?
