Question Change default admin name?

LionKing

Regular Pleskian
Server operating system version
Linux
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk Obsidian v.18.0.56 Update #3
Pretty much as it says:

Is there a way to change the first default administrators name to something else?
Using "admin" as user name is pretty stupid and a security risk, so we like to change it to something else.
Plesk doesn't give you an option to change the default administrator user name in the interface.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards

We get this question often, but it's not possible at the moment:

Crazy!
The first rule of internet is to never use admin as username
The second rule of the internet is to look at the first... ;)

So they do not accept a Windows workstation computer requesting a login/verify email?
That makes sense.. :rolleyes::oops:

We have plans to enable a change of the Plesk "admin" name to other names. It will be introduced in the very near future.

@LionKing As as responsible user you are probably using Fail2Ban. So it does not really matter if the name is "admin", because all break-in attempts will be blocked after n attempts.

We do, but as you may already know there is sometimes bugs and security wholes that opens and closes (e.g. is patched), over time and suddenly such thing as using "admin" as username can make your company very vulnerable to various attacks. Best option is to not use it at all.

We also have corporate policy to use LastPass for all employees too, so that everyone uses unique complex lengthy passwords too.
All good preventive measures, but you are never "safe" on the internet.

So it is better to be careful and proactive in our opinion.

Kind regards
