  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

The password for the Root user can only be changed via SSH. Connect to your server via SSH, use the su command to switch to the superuser (root) and then use passwd command to set a new password.

then what is the point of the link in the panel?

The Root user is tied to the Admin account in Plesk. You can view Root as an alias of the Admin account. Because Root has superuser privileges it's a security risk to allow users to the change the password from within Plesk. Hence it's not possible.

It's also actually not recommended to login to Plesk user the Root user. It's a safer practice to user the Admin user account.
