  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Changing "Full hostname" for Plesk Panel 11(Linux)

PriyanA

Regular Pleskian
Hi,

I recently purchased

- Linux VPS with Plesk 11 Panel (Came with 2 IPs, 2 Name Severs & IPs)
- Domain Name

VPS came with URL - vps393.companyname.com

I want to know how can i change this "vps393.companyname.com" to SubDomain.MyDomain.com

I know "Full hostname" can be changed via the Plesk Panel.

but what are the DNS Records i should have for MyDomain.com?

Regards,
PriyanA

If I understand your question correctly, I think you just need an A record pointing subdomain.domain.tld to the first IP of your server.

If you create a full hosting account for subdomain.domain.tld then this will be taken care of automatically by Plesk (if your Plesk server is responsible for DNS for domain.tld) AND will allow you to create mailboxes for root, postmaster and so on.

But if you don't want it to have a hosting account, just create the A record in the DNS for domain.tld. NOTE: If you do this, you can't add subdomain.domain.tld hosting account as a conflicting DNS record would be created. You'd need to remove the manually added record first.

hi faris,

thank you very much for your reply.

i created subdomain.domain.tld A record point to the first ip.

what about NS record? i have two NS came with the VPS.

Domain Setting Control Panel advise i should have atleast one NS record.

Currently there are SOAP, 1 A (Subdomain), 3 NS (Providers Default)

should i have records like ip4.domain.tld A records as well ?

regards,
Priyan
