I'm attempting to publish a trial site.

After click on the sitename and entering publishing info I click verify.

error message
Cannot create a regular site for this user. The user has reached the limit on the sites number.

----------
The user is Anonymous.

I then tried to create a new user that was a site owner.

I added a site name and received the following error.

please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks.

try b4 you buy

Sib,

I think I'm missing something.

I wish to give some clients a try before you buy option so that they can see how it works.

When they add some content and see how much they like sitebuilder, I assume they will want to purchase and keep all their hard work.

How can they retain their work?
I"m building my own site via trial as well. I assumed that when it was complete, I could make it live.

Thanks.

what is the right way to setup a new client who want to try out sitebuilder?

thanks.

There are two ways:
1) Give promotional links to Wizard - http://<your-host>/Wizard for trial sites creation. Trial sites can be easily converted to regular.
2) Create regular account and give credentials to client for try. But this will eat your license.

Sib,

I did option 1.
I have two trial sites that are ready to go live.

I was asking how to publish, but what I think you are saying is I need to convert from trial to regular.

How.
I don't see in the admin doc how to convert.

Thank you.

ailll,
Thanks I checked out the help page.
One step 5 it says
On the Sites screen, click Own Site.

The Own Site icon is greyed out.
What's a guy to do?

Thanks.

This post seems to have dried up.
Would someone please give me a hand or tell me how to resolve this.

The button is greyed out.
So I likely need to create a new super user or my sb might possibly be setup incorrectly.

Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

om

Under which user you are trying to own the site? Make sure that this user did not reach the limit of regular sites in plan to which this user assigned. You can also get a hint message at the left frame when you put mouse cursor to grayed out 'Own Site' button,
Hope it helps.

D,

Thanks for your reply.
I'm logged in as admin.
When I mouse over it does say
Site owning is not available, you have reach your limit on the number of sites.

From my desktop it says
Users: 2 of unlimited users
Regular sites: 1 of 1 sites; 0 available

Hosts: 1 of 1 hosts; 0 available

This is from admin user.
I also created a reseller user and received the same results.

Thanks.

i found out that when the software was installed, the license was never activated.
That is why I had only 1 site available.

In the interim, we completed a 40 page site for a client and his is ready to go live. :)

But, his site is no longer in my sites page.

I fear that his trial site may have expired. How can I get it back.
:)

How can we get this site back?
Thanks.

argh!

How can I make sure files aren't deleted in the future?

Only If I delete them or make them delete after 90 days instead of 30.

Thanks for your help.

Re: argh!

In this case I can suggest to increase trial sites lifetime or create backups periodically, to make sure that files will not be lost.

sitebuilder only allows me to allow the trial to last for upto 30 days.

is there a way to extend the deletion?

Yeap, really, limitation is done for 30 days only. If you wish I can pass request to developers to extend this value. As for now, you can make workaround and modify this value directly in database:

mysql> update plan set trial_life_time=50 where name='PLAN_NAME';

But please note for the future that after these changes if you try to make some modification for this plan in Sitebuilder CP you will get the same error that life time for trial sites can not be more than 30 days.
