Creating a New Client Account Error

I'm trying to add a new client account and I get following error:
Error: Unable to save changes to the user account: Client with name John Smith already exists.
Login and Company name are unique, I don't see the reason why Contact name should be unique.

I'm guessing there is another account with the same client name? If so, then that's a behavior by design, sigh...
