custom buttons and ampersands

Hi I've created a custom button that links to a URL containing ampersand delineated variables. In 8.0.1 this worked fine but in 8.1.0 I viewed the source and it converted the ampersand to the following which doesn't work:

The custom button was added to the Navigation panel on the left.

Any tips?
