Disabling e-mail service for a domain alias

Eric Pretorious

Regular Pleskian
It's easy enough to disable e-mail and DNS for an alias when adding the alias (Subscriptions -> Example.com -> Websites & Domains -> Add Domain Alias) but I can't find the option to disable e-mail service after the alias has been created.

Ideas? Suggestions?

I suppose, that you are using Plesk Panel 11.5. Is that right?

I'm using Plesk Panel 11.0.9 (on CentOS 6.4 [x86_64]).

If you are on the Websites & Domains, you have Hosting settings beside the domain alias. If you click on it, you'll get an overview of activated functions and you can click on settings:
Screenshot (red marked button)

In the list of domains (Subscriptions -> Example.com -> Websites & Domains) there are three columns:

  1. The source domain name
  2. The target domain name
  3. The icons for...
    • previewing the site,
    • launching the file manager,
    • viewing the web site statistics,
    • managing SSL certificates,
    • viewing the log files, and
    • managing DNS.
i.e., There's no option to change the alias' settings.

Hi Eric,

as I don't have any Plesk 11.0.9 running anymore, I can you currently only provide the link to the specific site in the guide.
Would you like to check against it?

Thanks, again, Henning:

Unfortunately, the instructions on that page don't reflect the current state of affairs for Plesk 11.0.x....

To change the properties of an alias:
  1. Go to the Websites & Domains tab.
  2. In the list of domain names, click the alias name you need.
  3. Click Settings in the Tools group.
  4. Modify the domain alias properties as required and click OK.

To modify resource records in the DNS zone of a domain alias:

  1. Go to the Websites & Domains tab.
  2. In the list of domain names, click the alias name you need.
  3. Click DNS.
  4. Add, edit or remove the resource records as required:
    • To add a resource record to the zone, click Add New Record. Specify the required values and click OK to write the values to the zone.
    • To modify a resource record, under the Host column, click a hyperlink corresponding to the record you need.
    • To remove a record, select a checkbox corresponding to the record you wish to remove and click Remove.

i.e., After clicking the alias name, there are NO options to modify except for...

Hosting type:
  • Website hosting - Host a website on this server.
  • Forwarding - Redirect visitors to another website.
  • No web hosting - Do not host a website at the moment.

Forwarding Settings
  • Destination address
  • Forwarding type:
Standard forwarding - Redirect website visitors to another site and show them the destination address, so they know about the redirection.
Frame forwarding - Redirect website visitor

What do you suggest?

could you provide screenshots from every step given in the document as stated?
Then I can investigate it further.

Sure! I've uploaded+attached the screenshots to this message, Henning.
