This thread is reguarding setting DNS up in general. I know that it belongs in a computers 101 post....but here it is.

I am trying to setup my box as a name server using Plesk. I know that Plesk is one by default. My question is, how do I get my domain name to reconize this? My domain is hosted at GoDaddy. It will not let me put in an IP address as a name server. How do I set up the link so it uses my box as a Name Server?

Idealy I would like it so I could have ns1.xxx.com and ns2.xxx.com

I really hope that somebody can help me with this. I am very stuck and lost.

Thanks!

you create what is called a domain host in godaddys admin.

I've not used godaddy actually, but we are domain reseller for them and we have it.

Private DNS entries;

First, create a domain as xxxx.com(or anything you like) . Than DO ADD the lines to the DNS entry for the domain.

xxxx.com. NS Ns1.xxxx.com.
xxxx.com. NS Ns2.xxxx.com.

Ns1.xxxx.com. A 20.xxx.xxx.101
Ns2.xxxx.com. A 20.xxx.xxx.102

By the way, you should check "Domain Host Summary" at godady,
You should add your nameservers and the IP adresses to this area..
Than you should write down the nameservers to the "Nameservers Summary" also. (without IP)
