• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

DNS Serial Question

Hi

I need to move 10 Web from Server A to Server B.
For Hosting and Mail etc. I use the Migration Manager.

Know I have some problems with the DNS.

The Domain example.com has ns.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com as there name server.

My idea was to set the TTL to 3600 and change the IP for example.com to Server B IP Address. After I moved all Clients I change the IP for ns.mydomain.com to Server B.

But I think I have to problems with serial Number... because the serial on server B is less then the one on Server A.

What can I do? (I hope you understand me:)

Thanks, Sven

Sven,

If the serial number is the problem, you will simply need to change the serial on Server B so that it is at least 1higher than Server B. Once you've changed the file run "rndc reconfig; rndc reload domain.com" and it will update the serial in named.

You can also check that your name server is returning the correct ip, by running: dig @ns.nameserver.com domain.com
