does restore delete the new data?

hi
i did a full restore from a backup file to a new system and realized that my restoration had errors. the domain kept receiving new e-mails on the new system, but the client wants the old data from the old system.
so my question is, if i do a backup and restore on the domain will it overwrite the new data or will it keep it there.

it will overwrite data and put new data into domain/client.
