I am running plesk 7.6.1 for windows using plesk for my name servers and mail enable pro 2 for email.
Mosts sites on our server have their email hosted with us. We have one site that have there own email server running on their premises.
I have set the A record for mail to be the IP address of their mail server. The MX record is set to mail.<their domain name>. I have disabled email in plesk for the account.
The domain is not yet deletgated to my server, so I am testing using an email client instaled on the server.
When I send an email to any of there email accounts the message goes into bad mail in mail enabled with the following message:
"could not be delivered as an infinite message loop was detected."
When I read the logs files in mail enable I find this:
"Local Delivery: Failure - Domain for ([SMTP:<email address>) is locally serviced, but recipient is not defined in address map."
I have tried removing the MX record and just leaving the A record in the DNS but still get the same result. I have also deleted their post office from mail enable but this did not work either.
What should the DNS be changed to so that the mail enable no longer tries to deliver the message locally? Is there some other setting in Plesk I need to change for this domain's email?
Their mail server does not respond to ping requests from either the web server or local machines here but if we put the IP address (on server of local) into a web browser we get "Welcome to Windows Small Business Server 2003" page so I can assume their server can be reached.
