Resolved Dr. Web update failing, default URL returns 404 not found

Mail comes in: "Dear Administrator, your virus bases are not up to date. Please run updating script manually or use cron for this purpose."

O.k., try the update manually:
# /opt/drweb/update.pl
ERROR: Dr.Web Updater: failed to download files !

No log entries with details of this error message. An inside look into the script shows a default URL were update.pl tries to download files from:
http://update.drweb.com/unix
Opening this URL in the web browser returns a 404 not found error.

How can the issue be solved?

No, this has been tried, see original post.

# /opt/drweb/update.pl
ERROR: Dr.Web Updater: failed to download files !

Hmmm... All works fine on my side:

# /opt/drweb/update.pl
Dr.Web update details:
Update server: http://update.us.drweb.com/plesk/700/unix
Update has begun at Fri Oct 7 16:08:01 2016
Update has finished at Fri Oct 7 16:08:03 2016

Following files have been updated:
/var/drweb/bases/drwdaily.vdb
/var/drweb/bases/drwtoday.vdb
/var/drweb/bases/dwmtoday.vdb
/var/drweb/bases/dwntoday.vdb
/var/drweb/bases/dwrtoday.vdb
/var/drweb/bases/timestamp
/var/drweb/updates/timestamp

Very strange. I tested again, now I get the expected result as you do. UFHH01 once mentioned in another post, that the updater website might by busy if too many hosts try to download files. So maybe that was the problem here. Unfortunately it is not giving a good error message to tell.

Anyway, thank you for helping.

Hi Peter Debik,

Additional informations:
http://update.drweb.com/unix
Opening this URL in the web browser returns a 404 not found error.
Well, the URL is not configured to be used with a browser. :p In addition, they use several mirrors and CDNs for their FTP - server(s) and high loads are not configured to be answered as "Please try later again. We experience an unusual high load to our servers right now, why your request has been ignored for the moment" :D

You only should be worried, when the described eMail notifications don't disappear within the next three days - just keep in mind, that the standard cron to update DrWeb is configured to run EVERY 30 minutes. :)
