Email to FTP

Is it possible to set up a system so you can email to your ftp space. What i want is to set up an email account. I then want to send messages with attachement on it to that account. And that they are put into an directory accessable by the ftp account.
I was thinking of some script that checks the pop account on a regular basis and retrieves the attachments, saves it at a specific location and then deletes the mail.

Is this possible and can someone help me??
