  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Emails send multiple times and MAPS problem

I have a client on a Plesk 8.0.1 box. They have about 7 email accounts setup on it. They are using a mixture of Outlook XP and Outlook Express, plus Norton 2004 AV.

When sending emails with attachments, it is very slow to send. The client connects OK to the server, but the actual send process is slow. As such, Outlook will start to send the email a 2nd time, then a 3rd and so on, so that a list of Sending remarks is shown in the Send/Receive dialog box.

I am also getting complaints that theyare receiving up to 20 copies of a single email. These users are not all on the same site, and are using different ISP's.

Is there anything on the Plesk box that could be causing this?

Outlook XP seems to be the biggest culprit, but OE plays up too. I have turned off outbound AV scanning.

On another note, my MAPS just suddenly started playing up, and when I have it enabled, not mail comes in. I have turned it off, and all works fine now. I have read that it is because the names of the servers were unresolvable, but why did this suddenly start playing up? Whatever I add seems to make it fail.

Thanks

Hello pstechnology,

This is not a solution for you, but it may help you hone in on one.

I recently moved from Plesk 6.0 to 8.01

After moving (so it does look like a 8.0.1 issue) I'm now getting multiple copies of the same emails received, and receiving hangs when approx 1/3 through the messages.

BUT!
Its only one website on the server that is affected.
All the others have no problems.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Using Horde webmail I can access the emails and print/delete etc just fine.
I use XP and outlook express.
Have you tried deleting the domain and recreating it?
What Spam or AV do you run?
Thanks
I THINK I have solved my problem.
Here's how:
- I noticed only one email address from one domain was being affected.
- This was the only email address with alias's. There was nothing else unique about it, except that it gets the most messages.
- I deleted all alias's, and made proper mail names of them instead (and added new accounts to outlook express).
It SEEMS there is no funny business now.
I'll have to see how things are in the morning, when the usual 101 spam messages come through.
[I haven't tried delete/recreate the domain]
[I use the Plesk AV & spam protection]
I hope this helps.
I think your problem, despite sounding similar, is not quite the same as mine.
None of the addresses on this domain have aliases. Also, I am running 4PSA Anti Virus and 4PSA Spam Guardian.
I will try the recreation option at some point, when convenient with my client.
Unless anyone else has a better idea? Please?
Thanks
I agree.
However, for the sake of helping others reading this thread ...
None of the emails I received this morning were duplicated. Hurray.
and here's how the problem occurred and was fixed:
1. I went from Plesk 6.0 to Plesk 8.0
2. I changed the 3 proper mail names we had under Plesk 6.0, to 1 proper mail name and 2 alias's pointing to it.
3. The duplicating problem started then (I think), and worsened.
4. I removed the 2 alias's and created them as proper mail names like we had under Plesk 6.0
