• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

ERROR: PleskFatalException: Unable to connect to database: mysql_connect()

Basic Pleskian
Hi guys,

So a bit stumped by this one. Clean installation of both Ubuntu 12 and Centos 6 on a VM and fresh installation of Plesk 11.5 using parallels_installer.

When trying to open the panel, I see the below.

There are a few suggestions around about mysql connections etc., but nothing appears to apply to these.

ERROR: PleskFatalException: Unable to connect to database: mysql_connect(): Permission denied (auth.php:142)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked /var/log/mysql/mysql.log?
Make sure that you have correct permissions on /tmp and enough free disk space and inodes.

Hi Igor,

Thanks. There was nothing in the mysql.log, tmp permissions correct and 100GB+ free disk space.

The error was permissions of mysql.sock were set to 755. chmod 777 sorted it out. It is odd though, since this was a fresh installation.

Take care,

Nick
