Error when trying to rename domain

Hi I have read an enormous amount of posts on this, and since I have no solution yet, or at least managed to make it work, im posting this.

I am trying to rename the domain to a new domain. I am getting an error:

Error: Unable to rename the domain: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (Error code 32) at Move file 'C:\inetpub\vhosts\gsp.org\httpdocs' to 'C:\Recycler\{86066D57-9347-46a7-B4DB-971D9EF36D29}\36051cd9-b042-11df-9379-00ffa6c1599f'

Obviously something is running and using the httpdocs folder, so I don't know how to do it properly...

Also, when enabling the MSSQL admin panel it goes through silent logon by redirecting from the IP let's say, to a mssql subdomain. This domain doesn't exist (it's the one I need to change), therefore the admin panel is unavailable.

Any advice on how to rename to domain would be helpful...

Thanks!

Lorenzo,

Do you have RDP access to the server? If you do then you can install a utility called Unlocker. This will show you the process locking the file/folder and allow you to unlock it if you are sure that it is safe to do so. You could simply restart IIS to try and release any locks that are in place.

You can download Unlocker from here: http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/

Seyed,

Your issue appears to relate to mail handlers. I would first try to recreate these. The instructions are at the bottom of the following KB article, under the heading "Additional information": http://kb.odin.com/en/6410
