File Extract False Positive

I took a backup of my site, created a new hosting instance, attempted to upload a file, then tried to extract the files. It said the files were extracted, yet no additional files were seemingly written to the directory, even though there was a message which seemed to state that extracting the files had succeeded.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?
