  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

FIXED - [PPP-18062] Email Backup - Plesk 12.5.30

themidge

New Pleskian
Hello!

I have tried backing up individual web spaces and the entire server but in the resulting backup file that I download, only one of the three email addresses is found in the backup folder - backup_domainmail.

The server claims the backup file is 1.09 GB but when downloaded to my laptop is just under 400 MB. All HTTP files are there as expected, just two out of three email addresses are missing.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Many thanks,
Matt

The only thing I can imagine is that on particular mailbox backup some error occured and the mailbox dump was skipped.
Could you enable debug logging (http://kb.odin.com/en/120101) and repeat domain backup again?
Checl logs at %plesk_dir%\PMM\logs\backup-*
Which mail server do you use?

The size of downloaded dump may differ a bit from the value displayed on the Backup Manager screen, but such huge difference looks like download have not completed. Possibly downloaded file is broken. Could you check it? You can also compare the content of downloaded file with the content in server repository %plesk_dir%\Backups
And check logs at %plesk_dir%\PMM\logs\export-* and %plesk_dir%\admin\logs\php_error.log for any issues

Dmitry,

Thanks for your response. I've taken a look at the logs but can't yet find anything that would point towards the problem. I'm currently using MailEnable 9.0. I have also taken a look in the server repository at the backup and it is still much less than what it should be. The missing email accounts would make the total correct.

Like you say, it does look like the mailboxes are being skipped but I can't yet see why. Is there somewhere I could send a log file to?

Many thanks.

Have you enabled debug logging before backup as I mentioned above? In this case logs will contain much more information, which can be applicable.
You can attach your logs to your post using "Upload a File" button

I have found an error in the log. Actually it is a bug, which I reported to development team, you can track it by ticket identifier PPP-18062 in one of the nearest microupdates. I believe it will be fixed as soon as possible. Thank you very much for report

Dmitry, thanks once again for your help. Plesk updated last night and I can confirm that backup now works correctly for all email accounts.
