FreeBSD/7.5.3 Inetd/tcpenv timeouts

I've found a FAQ addressing this issue with Redhat/Xinetd installations, but as usual the FreeBSD crowd is left out. I'm curious if someone has an answer to this.

Inetd does an initial reverse lookup of any inbound IP, from testing against the servers listed in the /etc/resolv.conf file, the IP's without a reverse pointer fail quickly as they should with no record. Yet the smtp session still does not open. Its also my understanding that tcpenv does a ident lookup against the incoming host. I believe this is where my problem is happening.

The timeouts are just getting rediculous.

Does anyone have a solution to this? As I add more and more domains, its becoming an issue with customers.

TIA
James
