Question Freeing up disk space

No. i've rebooted but no free space is made
 
nope. plesk repair will not fix this because it is Linux-specific problem, not related to Plesk.

could you please show output of "df -ih" and "lsblk" commands?

btw, ncdu can be installed by "apt install -y ncdu"
 
Would a Plesk Installation Repair in RepairKit do anything useful in this instance?

In order to investigate the status of your filesystem in more depth, I have been advised by our 2nd line server agent that they will need to boot the server in to Rescue. They have some ideas what the root cause of the issue could be, but an investigation would clarify this. While they are pin-pointing the issue, there will be some downtime; all your content will be offline temporarily while the 2nd line team take a look into the filesystem. If you are happy with us to go ahead and initiate an investigation, just let us know in your reply to this email.

well, there is something wrong with file system on your server.
If the hoster's guys may fix this instead of you - I'd recommend allow them do this.

Just one more recommendation: I hope you have a backup of your files. If not - it's time to create it ;-)
 
Therin lies the original problem. My server has not been doing it's weekly backups due to lack of space. This is how I became aware of the issue in the first instance. I save to external FTP but it needs 6Gb of space on this server first and I only have 3Gb

you can try use cloud storages, like OneDrive, GoogleDrive, Dropbox.
they should be able to create backup on the fly directly in the cloud without utilize local disk space.

but as I remember free accounts provide just about ~5gb
 
I think I just have about 10 Joomla websites on this server. I might just ZIP the files, dump the Db's and then let 1&1 do what they need to do. It's a bit convoluted but should enable me to recover if anything goes drastically wrong. I'll keep this thread updated on the outcome and hopefully they will tell me how it was caused.

Running fsck from rescue would be the next step I'd do too. After ensuring the important files are backed up.
 
Did you reboot the server? That would release the files that are still in use by the processes you listed in #10
 
Hi guys

Thanks for your advice on this. We have the solution (kinda)

IONOS server support called me and said it was a problem they couldn't resolve. They acknowledge the problem and gave me some tech jargon that I didn't understand over the phone.

They've set me up a new server, free of charge, with double the RAM I had before and when I have migrated the data over to the new server then they will do whatever they do with the old one.

I'm just wondering what you guys would suggest as being the best way to send my Joomla sites and Databases over to the this new server? I could do it manually (I only have about 10 websites) but do you think that is the best way? I have plenty of time to do this. I'm just happy i've got 80Gb space to play with.

I am happy to hear that the provider has solved this on their side. congratulations with your new big server ;)

if you old server still available by network from your new server,
I'd suggest you to try one of Plesk extensions:
- Site Import
- Plesk Migrator

first one can import sites content from another servers (in case when they are hosted not by plesk. It may be wordpress. I'm not sure but probably joomla supported too).
the second one - migration tool for moving sites from another Plesk server (I guess it should better meet your needs)
