FTP and File Permissions Problem

PhilGreg

New Pleskian
Whenever I setup a new FTP user in Plesk and then configure my FTP client with exactly the same username and password and transfer files and folders onto the server then the file permissions allocated are incorrect. Folders get allocated a permission of 700 and files a permission of 600, whereas I want all folders to have a permission of 755 and files a permission of 644. How can I change my setup so that files and folders get the permissions I want ? Many Thanks

Ok I managed to eventually find the solution which was to :

1. Use Putty.exe to access the server
2. used the command "cd /usr/local/etc/" to navigate to the "etc" directory
3. Entered "vi proftpd.conf" to create the file proftpd.conf
4. entered the statement "umask 022" and then saved the file.
5. Rebooted server for changes to take effect and BINGO any new folders that get FTP'd to the server get the permission 755 and files get the permission 644.
