Resolved FTP connection problem

Hello, when my customers create ftp accounts when they try to log in it does this to them

do you have an idea?

Are they using the correct port 21 or 22?
Are they using the correct host name to connect?
Have they opened their ports 21/22 in their local network and router?
Can they reach the server by telnet to port 21 for example?
Could they try a different FTP software like Filezilla that gives a more specific log what is going on?

Hi Bammer013,

It does not look like a FTP error (e.g.:  Unable to connect to a Plesk server via FTP in the passive mode). Possibly, it could be a fail2ban protection in action, could you please check Fail2Ban Jails Management.

If there are no answers, it is possibly better to ask the Plesk Support team because they could investigate the issue on the server - Plesk Help Center

# ftp x*******.com

421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection

That looks like your ftp service is misconfigured, so xinetd gets the new connection, starts proftpd, but proftpd refuses to take the connection and closes the connection after printing that message.
Is there anything in the syslog?

Is when I go to /var/run/proftpd/scoreboard it tells me that the folder doesn't exist

This sounds awfully like a KB that I saw.

Have you given that a look?

# sed -i 's/ScoreboardFile.*/ScoreboardFile \/var\/run\/proftpd.scoreboard/' /etc/proftpd.conf
