  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Horde Alternative?

I would like to see something more user-friendly. Round Cube could be it - if it is stable enough.

The best solution would be to have a per domain option to select which webmail software should be used.

Yeah, I don't even care about the per domain preference. RoundCube is being used by cPanel already and it has a good development life cycle.

As long as Horde is replaced with something more modern...

There is nothing stopping you using your own webmail client now?

We replaced Horde with Squirrelmail and made it pretty with some third-party themes from Nutsmail.

If I were going to replace it, then I've already spent too much time configuring a front-end that I'm paying for. The purpose of a control panel is to make the management easier and not come up with alternatives on my own.

If this is the case, then I might as well scrap Plesk, pay $$$$$ to someone in India and come up with my own control panel software.

good ;-( an other application we must buy from parallels ....

why not use one of the hunderts open source clients ?

I like @Mail, and hope you (Parallels) have worked out a good deal for us (@Mail isn't cheap..).

as first i suggest to update horde (3.2.1) and add some of there projects (dimp, nag, later maybe hermes, whubs when they are stable) and add syncML for synchronization ...

after that take an eye on http://roundcube.net/ they are on a good way, if it is stable enough get them as a alternative webmail

an other one is http://www.squirrelmail.org/ but i never used it till now ..

I agree with the multiple choice thing, our clients should be able to choose which webmail client they want to use, if they choose roundcube, horde, squirrel whatever they want to use, they should be able to use it.

Plesk is worthless.

Seriously... We pay more for Plesk than any other web hosting CP out there. What do we get in return? A junk, non-current product that can't even keep up with necessary security patches. These guys have become con artists in the past few years. The still well support their HUGE customers; but, not the every day hosting service which made them what they are. Let them burn. I for one recommend everyone check out VirtualMin. It has all the features (and then some) of Plesk and costs a great deal less!

I'm not going to disagree about Parallels support their larger customers (cough MT). I also think that Parallels is possibly owned by the Russian Mafia :)

That said, I don't really want to switch to a different control panel anymore... I did find an alternative to Horde: http://www.sarito.com/index.php/screenshots.html

Just a personal note, roundcube and squirrelmail, shouldnt be on APS. its not really what should be offered. those 2 apps, should be offered server wide as horde is. NOT on a per domain basis.

my 2 cents.

Hello Paco,

atmail is mentioned around Paralells Plesk Panel 9.
Please watch Parallels announcement about release date.

Personzation of the atmail aplication

Good morning sergius.

We have now currently 6 servers, all with plesk. Last week went my latest dedicated server in production (Dell R200). And i have upgraded from 8.6 to 9.0. In setting is see that i can choose the atmail (v5.3) webmail aplication. But never the less i am unable to see the webmail aplication eventhough i just created the first email account for this client
[email protected]. But when i go to http://webmail.gestoriapyme.es i still see the UGLY landing page.
Questions:
- if webmail.xxx is sistemwide and the email account is created i should see the atmail webmail aplication, right?

- and now the important part is: how can i personalize the atmail aplication.
should i edit localy the files located at var/www/atmail? (download, adapt and upload)?

and do i need to change anything at the config files at: -> /etc/psa/webmail ?

Hope i made myselfe clear.
And really hope that you can inform me a.s.a.p.
Many thanks,
Paco

Ps. Can you maybe send me a P.M. with your direct email adress (if this is possible?)

Hello paco,

I've tried to browse http://webmail.gestoriapyme.es and see proper @Mail login screen. Did you solve the issue?
