Question How do we know if Lets Encrypt certificates are set to auto renew?

Rijath Mohammed

New Pleskian
Hello,

We have few domains in Plesk only with mail hosting, they used to have domain hosting and we created Lets Encrypt certificates for all domains. Later they were converted into simple mail hosting.

We have started getting email notifications that certificates are expiring in 20 days. What is the default renewal window for Lets Encrypt? How do we monitor the process?

Thanks,
Rijath Mohammed

I am not an expert on this topic, but as far what I understood, the default behaviour is, Let's encrypt needs to access the webspace for the acme challenge.
There might be a second option (DNS), but if you are told the certificates expire in 20 days, the automatic renewal 30 days ahead failed ...
Here's a short description about the two ways for the validation process:

Hey Bonsai, LE has access to read ACME challenge requests. Problem is that we do not have web hosting enabled which it is required for LE auto renew to work. We enabled hosting and it worked! :) All good now! And thanks for replying :)
