  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question How to change from MySQL to MariaDB (Plesk 18.0.65)

TELLO0815

Basic Pleskian
Server operating system version
Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk 18.0.65 Update #2
Hi all,
I was reading a lot, but still not getting it.
Under DB Server I have MySQL 8, and no choice to build new DB as MariaDB...???
In "update" I get only MySQL to install as component. No MariaDB to choice.

How can I change to MariaDB, because I want to upgrade Ubuntu18 to 20 with plesk/ubuntu18to20.

Tanks

Hi @AYamshanov: I already noticed there's no recent article on the support page explaining how to replace MySQL with MariaDB. Since this is an essential step for anyone upgrading from Ubuntu 18 to Ubuntu 20, could you ask the support team to create an article on this? It could benefit users who want to upgrade their Ubuntu server.

Hi @Maarten yes, this will be a great help.
@AYamshanov yes I was going this steps. Finally on MariaDB installation guide under Ubuntu18 I failed with the installation, because there is only Ubuntu 12 and MariaDB 5.5 ... but I need MariaDB 10, regarding MySQL 8 I guess.
If there will be some better explonation about Ubuntu 18 ... guess there are lot of people locking for help...out there ;)

@Daveo Im more and more confused. Normally in my Ubuntu 18.0.4 must be MariaDB installed. But following your link point 2 stopping the service, I get:
Failed to stop mariadb.service: Unit mariadb.service not loaded
Point 3 installing 10.2
curl -LsS https://r.mariadb.com/downloads/mariadb_repo_setup | sudo bash -s -- --mariadb-server-version=10.2
I get:
# [error] Ubuntu 18.04 LTS has reached End of Life and is no longer supported.
MB because of PHP 8.1.8 I have installed?
I need PHP 8.2 or 8.3. But for this I need Ubuntu 20, but for this I need MariaDB... I feel little bit in hamsterweel.
